Our desire is to lovingly and safely care for the children in our church, to train and equip children in God’s word, and to serve our families and visitors alike.

Uptown Church is committed to our covenant responsibility to assist parents in the Christian nurture of their children. The church actively seeks to create a safe environment for our children that is free from abuse of any kind. To promote this, all staff and volunteers must:

• Undergo a criminal background check.
• Complete MinistrySafe Sexual Abuse Awareness Training before participating in Uptown Kids and Uptown Youth. 
• Repeat MinistrySafe Sexual Abuse Awareness Training every three years.

Christy Talamo rejoined Uptown's staff team in August of 2023 as Director of Uptown Kids. Christy has been a member of Uptown Church for about 20 years, during which time she has served the Children's Ministry in multiple capacities. She's married to Joe Talamo and has three children: Patrick, Rosie, and Walker. Christy has a BS in Bible from Columbia International University, was an elementary school teacher for eight years, and is excited to be serving our kids and parents!

Noelle McDermott graduated from UNC Charlotte and came to Uptown Church during her time at RUF. She is currently enjoying both the Charlotte Fellows program and her new role as the Uptown Kids Assistant! In her free time, Noelle loves visiting coffee shops, strolling through antique stores, and finding the best gluten-free food.
